Discover Quebec City's vibrant microbrewery scene and sample some of its masterpieces
Walk with me through the central neighbourhoods of St-Roch, Limoilou and St-Jean-Baptiste. These new hip areas have seen the emergence of many microbreweries in the late 10 years. We will go from one of the city's oldest microbreweries to one of its most successful, finishing with one of the trendiest pubs in town serving only local crafted beers.
In addition, this tour will combine historical information and off-the-beaten-paths sights. You will definitely get to know better Quebec City's past and modern vibe through one of its most dynamic industries now rewarded worldwide.
The craft beer tastings (one flight/taster per person, approx. 4oz. per glass, 4 to 5 glasses per flight/taster) at these 3 pubs as well as a tasting of our national dish, the poutine, at one of them is included in the tour (shared portion). We will reach our different stops by foot and by bus as the city bus tickets are included for the duration of the tour too!
This tour is meant to show you where you can find the best breweries in town (we will visit only three of them) as well as give you tips to enjoy any festivals or events happening in town during your stay.
On our path, we shall see:
The St-Jean street, outside the fortifications of Quebec
The Old Port area, where we can find the site of the first brewery in Canada
St-Roch district, the trendy and lively revitalized neighbourhood in the lower city
Limoilou neighbourhood, very dynamic area of the city, authentic, full of great restaurants and pubs
The 3 microbreweries we will visit during our tour:
La Barberie - The hidden gem of the lower town, one of the oldest microbreweries in Quebec City!
La Souche - Now distributed everywhere in the province, this pub makes some of the best brews in town.
Le Projet - Located in an old bank, this place only serves crafted beers made in the province on their 24 taps.

Visiting the beer breweries was an excellent way to get a feel for present day Quebec City and expanded our knowledge gained on our initial walking tour. Highly recommended even for those who only sort of like beer.
