Fully-narrated five hour driving tour for up to six guests
Many associate the Puritans with the Salem Witch Trials of 1692, but their contribution to the founding of Boston and the US go far beyond all that. Make the Puritan and colonial Boston connection by hearing the stories and exploring the sites where Boston's earliest citizens carved out a new civilization on the unexplored American continent. This fully-narrated five-hour driving tour will show you around Boston's oldest neighborhoods where you'll see the sights and hear the stories of the Boston Massacre, the Tea Party, the Battle of Bunker Hill and see Paul Revere's house, the Old North Church and Old Ironsides, then take you north to Salem, where the Puritans who settled Boston settled first. There you'll visit the Salem Witch Museum and the House of Seven Gables, immortalized by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Time and interest permitting, we'll Boston's more recently developed neighborhoods: the Back Bay, Beacon Hill, and others.
This tour will begin at your air, train or bus terminal and take you past the most interesting and historically significant sites in Boston including the Paul Revere House, Old North Church, the USS Constitution, the Bunker Hill Battle Monument, Faneuil Hall, the Old State House, the King's Chapel, the Granary Burial Ground, Boston Common, Old South Meeting House, and Tea Party site. From there we'll head north to Salem, along the way we'll discuss the Puritan culture and experience. Once there we'll visit the Salem Witch Museum and the House of Seven Gables. Returning to Boston if there is time we'll take a quick survey of Boston Federalist and Victorian neighborhoods: Beacon Hill, the Back Bay and South End.
(As a qualified and certified guide I will be pleased to adjust the tour to your specific needs and interests so please let me know what would be most enjoyable for you).
