Discover the Roman heritage of Provence! Starting by the most famous and stunning aqueduct of France, the Pont du Gard, a site that just can't be missed when visiting Provence. Be amazed by this wonderful testimony of Roman engineering. This tour will take you to several sites, all registered on the Unesco World Heritage List. Nîmes will charm you with its Provençal and Spanish cultural influences, while showing you the extent of the Gallo-Roman Empire with the visit of its major and well-preserved Roman buildings such as the arenas and the temple of the forum. You will be able to witness the greatness of the Roman empire with your own eyes. The city of Arles has all the attributes of an authentic Provençal city, lively streets and cafés, stunning architecture at each street corners, it is an open museum for « old stones lovers ». In the city center, at a walking distance, you will discover the majestic Antique Amphitheatre, the theatre or the Roman baths, all at a walking distance in the city center.

Itinerary

From Aix-en-Provence to the Pont du Gard. (1h30 drive) a peaceful one-kilometer walk on a shady path, surrounded by Mediterranean trees and plants, and the view on the aqueduct, an unforgettable experience ! Possibility to book a tour at the top of it only at weekends and holidays.
From the Pont du gard to Nîmes (40 mn drive) Visit of the city, the Roman amphitheatre, the forum, the clock tower square. The Roman Amphitheatre better known by the locals as « the arenas » is the best conserved amphitheatre of the Roman world and was used for animal hunting and gladiators fights at the end of the first century AD. Possibility to visit other parts of the city or the city of Uzès if the arenas are closed (which can happen during festivals or concerts).
From Nîmes to Arles: it is one of the cities that has the most to offer to tourists from all over the world. Next to the river Rhône, its Roman ruins are strikingly beautiful. Visit of the Roman historical sites (arenas, theatres).
