Explore Yangon with a local
Yangon is the biggest and commercial hub of Myanmar with 7 million populations. Walking around the city center is the best way to see realistic lifestyle and 100 years old colonial buildings still can be seen so that you could feel as if you are walking in European countries with colorful Churches, Glittering Pagodas and Independent monuments put up in the center at Mahabandular Park.
In 1842 King Tharyawadday moved to Yangon. It was 10 years long when A new city was built by King - there was second Anglo-Myanmar war in 1852. A large part of residential areas were destroyed. When the colonial British seized Yangon, the town was in hopeless condition. Dr Willion Montgomery and Captain Fraser drew up a new plan to construct modern city.
According to plan, Montgonmery Road, Fraser Road, Strand Road and Dalhousie Road are formed. They built City Hall, High Court, Department stores, Victoria Park, and Train Station, etc. around Rangoon. At that time Yangon City was the most beautiful and cleanest city in Asia.
