Discover many important historical events, places and people linked to Halifax and Nova Scotia

Welcome to Halifax! A city very rich in history and culture!

On this gentle two hour walk, you will discover many important events in Canadian, Nova Scotian and local history (ie. the Halifax Explosion, our connection to the Titanic, etc. ) as well as important historical figures who shaped history (ie. Major General Robert Ross, Lucy Maud Montgomery, Titanic victim George Wright, etc).

During our stroll, we will also visit North America's oldest brewery, Halifax's oldest cemetery as well as our famous waterfront. Along the way, you will learn why Halifax was settled, our critical role in the Titanic, a famous harbour explosion and much more.

My Walking Tours are typically given weather permitting (no rain/snow). And for interested groups, I am happy to arrange a mutually convenient day and time for this tour. And you can certainly bring more than ten people along!

Itinerary

On this walking tour, we'll stop at: The Old Town Clock, City Hall, the Five Fishermen's Restaurant, the Grand Parade, St. Paul's Church, the Press Gang Restaurant, then walk along Barrington Street and over to the Old Burying Ground, Government House, down to Hollis Street and finally down to the Keith's Brewery (along the waterfront).

Meeting Location + Tour Duration

Meeting location: I'd be happy to meet your group at a convenient downtown location (ie. where your ship will be docking, at a downtown hotel, a restaurant, etc.).

End location: I'd be happy to leave your group at a convenient downtown Halifax location (ie. where your ship is docked, your hotel, a restaurant, etc.).

Duration: 1 hour 30 min.

A Recent Review of this tour

Andy was fantastic! He arrived early, which was great because we got off the ship early. The walk was the perfect distance and stops for local history exceeded our expectations. Having him all to ourselves (family of 6) made this the perfect Halifax excursion for all of us, and my 82-year-old mother repeatedly said it was the highlight of her cruise. Thank you Andy!
