Possible visit to the Burren and 5500 year old Portal Tomb
If the Cliffs are your thing and you are staying in Dublin then this a small private tour which will depart early in the morning 7/8 am and visit The Cliffs of Moher (one hour stop), The Burren National Park which includes Poulnabrone, one of Ireland's most important ancient Portal Tombs. The intention then is to leave the west by 3. 30 and be back in Dublin 5. 30 to 6. 00 pm at the latest. It is only possible to do this tour from a Dublin cruise ship if the day long stay of the ship is at least 10 hours.
I can create a customized tour for you in case you have special requests or if you are more than 6 people and need a larger vehicle.
NB. I would like to point out that Dublin is not the ideal starting point for a tour to the Cliffs. The Cliffs are better and easily accessed from Cork or Limerick or Galway. From Dublin it is a very long and somewhat tiring and ultimately expensive day tour.
This a a private tour with an Irish badged National Tour Guide licenced to drive up to 6 people (up 16 folks if required but in a different vehicle and at a different price range).
The tour will leave Dublin in the early morning, pass Limerick City, Bunratty Castle and Heritage Park and the town of Ennis, to arrive for an hour long stop at The Cliffs of Moher. There will be time for a drive through The Burren National Park which is a spectacular karstic limestone region.
A stop is planned at Poulnabrone, a dolmen or portal tomb from 5500 years ago. There is plenty to see and hear from your guide along the way and if the weather does not allow for great views then Bunratty Castle and Folk Park can be viewed.
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: I will arrive at the guest cruise ship or hotel in Dublin and pick up the private party.
End location: I will drop off the party at an agreed location as above, cruise ship or hotel.
Duration: 8 hours
Varying weather and traffic conditions can change this to a range of 8 to 10 hours
Motor transport will be in a 2011 modern, spotlessly clean, air conditioned Mercedes luxury vehicle capable of carrying 6 passengers. There will be some light walking at the Cliffs.
For numbers above 6 passengers and up to 16 folks then a bigger vehicle will have to be brought in at a different price level.
The driving tour is included (a modern air conditioned vehicle, fuel, tolls etc) plus the commentary and question responses from a fully badged senior national driver tour guide. The Cliffs are self guided. Any changes due to traffic or weather conditions may be discussed and agreed with guests on the day.
All food and entry fees are paid by the guest on the day and are not included.
I would like to stress clearly that the above price is based on an 8 hour day only. The journey from Dublin to The Cliffs is normally at least 3 hours and the same again for the journey back. It is quite possible to do this trip from a Dublin cruise ship but it would mean visiting only the Cliffs and then back to Dublin inside 8 hours.
Estimated Local Cash Needed
50 Eur - You will need entry cost for The Cliffs or any other site entry plus cost of refreshments or lunch, a total of approx 40/50 euro per head.
All food, refreshments and site entry fees are extra. Any other site visits and extra hours are not included.
I can customize the tour with a longer duration if necessary or to suit any special circumstances you may have.
Commencing May 2015 I am licenced to drive up to 16 people in a small to medium vehicle up to a minibus.
Tours in English only.
