Jorge V.

Naranjo, Alajuela, Costa Rica

Hola, my name is Jorge. I will be more than glad to be your local guide in Costa Rica, this paradise that I am lucky to call home.

I have designed exclusive one day experiences and multi-day tours in order to help you discover and enjoy the amazing nature, culture and gastronomy of my country.

I participated in a sustainable tourism program in Sweden in 2006. After that, I knew what I wanted to do for a living. I have been working as a tour guide/translator since 2008 and I love it! Working for organizations such as Habitat for Humanity gave me the opportunity to meet people from around the world, not only did we started beneficial projects for local communities, but we experienced and enjoyed the wonders of our beaches, volcanoes and natural reserves together.
I worked for travel agencies and as a hotel manager as well, but the outdoors strongly called me back. For that reason, I decided to design tours on my own.
In my experience, I have witnessed how tourists enjoy the must-visit destinations, but also, the more authentic experiences with true Costa Ricans in off-the-beaten-path spots. That is when people fall in love with this country and the reason I like to make that blend in each tour.
I am also a coffee connoisseur and barista, and have been a freelance coffee tour guide in the area where I currently live, Naranjo.

As a traveler myself, I have no doubt that the best experiences I've had abroad have been in the company of local people. To me, sharing traditions and going to places with them is the best way to see another country. Now, I could not be more excited and honored to be in the ToursByLocals team!

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, I am here to assist you and can't wait to go on a tour with you!

See you soon,
- Jorge

A Recent Review of this guide

Jorge was great. Easy to spend time with, flexible and happy to accommodate, very knowledgeable about the history of Costa Rica and San Jose, well-known and liked by the owners of the coffee and chocolate tours. Two good local meals as well. It was an easy and very enjoyable two days.
