A three-hour guided walking tour to discover Ravenna
Ravenna was once the Capital of the Western Roman Empire and today is home of the largest collection of surviving Early Christian and Byzantine mosaics.
You will admire breathtaking mosaics created over 15 centuries ago for the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia and visit the nearby S. Vitale church and its amazing Byzantine mosaics. The tour will then lead you to admire the splendid early Christian mosaics of the Neonian Baptistery, and after you will also pay a visit to the tomb of Dante, author of the greatest Italian poetry work, the Divina Commedia, who died here in the fall of 1321. Finally, you will learn the history of the Goth king Theoderic whose memory still survives in the church and glittering mosaics of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo.
Strolling the quiet and charming center you can also take a break watching delicate post-medieval architectures left by the Venetians in the central square while having a coffee or eating an ice cream or sipping a prosecco.
The tour will begin with a private driver pick-up from the port of Ravenna.
