Beautiful Lake Tahoe with a Fun California Gold Mining Adventure
From Sacramento this custom tour travels through the gold rush towns of Folsom and Placerville before continuing on to Lake Tahoe. We will stop at Folsom Prison where Johnny Cash performed Folsom Prison Blues.
Then on to historic Placerville to visit a historic gold mine and stamp mill.
Next we will drive through the Sierra Nevada Mountains to an altitude over 6000 ft. , this journey is almost as beautiful as the lake itself. At Lake Tahoe we will spend time at the lake hiking, visiting museums, and enjoying all the sights that make this area a world class destination.
Driving past Donner Lake we will continue on to another gold rush town, Nevada City. From here we will visit what was California's largest hydraulic gold mining operation, with a museum, hiking and gold panning. Drifting through the meadow and oak countryside will lead us to beautiful Empire Mine State Historic Park.
