Discover Goree Island from Dakar with a knowledgeable private guide
Departure for the ferry station, where we'll take the ferry for our appointement with the history on slavery. The history of Goree is above all that slavery. What's striking in it, is that from 1536 to 1848 many black people coming from all the continent will be enslaved and shipped for the Americas.
Once on the island, we'll start the visit with: The slaves house where the curator will give some explanations about slavery, the slaves conditions of living and the downgrading treatments which were inflicted to them when rebelling, how they were shackled and so on. This is where, you'll discover that famous: Door of Return. After we'll go on discovering the island , which became world heritage in 1978. Visit of a sandpaint gallery. Goree's craft market, a unique and nostalgique craft market in Africa.
Once in the ferry, 15 minutes later we're on Goree Island. Then we'll walk through Goree's narrow paved streets towards the Slaves Houses, where the curator will give some explanations about slavery. Then we'll go around the island to discover the heritage.
