From Glasgow city and Port Clyde, Greenock (Cruise-ship). Private tour with your own Local Guide.
The great city of Glasgow has changed so much so that some visitors now say they prefer it more than Edinburgh! Find out why? Maybe it is because it is bigger and has more of everything to see. From the 'Style mile' shopping, beautiful hotels, places to eat out and go out. So come and "check-it out", as we say, for yourself. Goes way back in time from Roman Legion occupation, through Medieval Centuries, Empire and industrial giant and to the modern present.
Must see attractions are Glasgow University, nearby art galleries & museums and parks & botanical gardens and the Medieval Cathedral area. Glaswegians love sport, especially their football teams including the world famous Glasgow Celtic.
We take advantage of the motorway and drive over the River Clyde. Starting at the older buildings, explore the Cathedral dating back to 1200 AD and the oldest house Provand's Lordship 1471 AD and the nearby Necropolis graveyard. The Clyde river made Glasgow and during the British empire it was known as the second city after London for international import & export of trade and ship building.
Remarkable architecture, the iconic works of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, a Scottish architect, designer, water colourist and artist. Georgian and Victorian classical buildings throughout. Greco/Roman & Gothic styled buildings to see and George square is city centre.
The West end of Glasgow is the nicer and has incredible museums & art galleries. The University of Glasgow building, a must see attraction on tour and the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum. Surrounding green parks and botanical gardens to walk and where you find popular shops and places to eat & drink.
