My name is Anne. As many people in Berlin, I am not a true Berliner. I am French, originally from Strasbourg, a city located on the French-German border. So since the beginning of my life I am a little mix of France and Germany. You are probably wondering what brought me to the German capital. Love at the first sight! I know it sounds cliché, but it is the truth. Love for the city, not for a man, I should precise. It is my love for Berlin that I would like to share with you during my tours.
I should have come to Berlin when I was 14 years old as a part of a school trip. Unfortunately the trip was cancelled and I had to wait 15 more years until I could finally come. To be honest, the first minute I was in Berlin, I felt like I was at home. This is of course a strange feeling as I was never been here before. I never felt lost in the German capital. It was like this city was a little part of myself. Living Berlin was painful and I was sure that I would go back and settle there. It took me 3 years to convince my husband to move and here I am.
I am a professional licensed guide since 2013. Why did I become a guide? First reason I love history and I love to share it. Second reason I love meeting people from all of over the world. Since I am a kid I have a passion for history, that's why I chose it as my major at the University. I am especially interested by the 20th Century history, Second World War, Cold War, etc. Berlin is the perfect city for that. As you walk in its streets, you have almost history on every corner.
Through my tours, I would like to show you that history is not boring and that it explains clearly the world where we are living in. The whole 20th century history was written in Berlin, for the best and the worst. A guided tour in the German capital is completely different from what you may experience in Paris, London or Rome. So much was destroyed and then rebuilt, that you need pictures and explanations to really understand this city. Berlin is not only for the fans of History. If you like architecture, Berlin is also made for you, as the German capital was a big construction site for the last 25 years. If you like street Art, Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain are the districts where you must have a look.
Let me show you all the different faces of Berlin and let yourself be amazed by it. A few years ago this motto was used for an advertisement campaign : "Berlin is poor but sexy". So follow me in Berlin and I promise you you won't forget your Berliner experience.
