Visit everyone's favorite Mayan ruin, swim in a cenote
Uxmal is, according to everyone polled that has visited both, a far better experience than the more well-known Chichen Itza. The ruins are well-preserved and much restored, there is that 'lost city in the jungle' feel and there are no crowds or vendors. An easy hours drive (approx) from Merida, the route there is full of great activities that can be taken advantage of from colonial time haciendas, to cenotes, to world-famous artisans and of course our favorite: street food and fruit stands.
After picking you up in Merida, we drive for about 30 minutes or so to the Hacienda Yaxcopoil where we stop for a leg stretch and some photos of this magnificent former plantation.
Then it's on to Muna where we can make a stop at an artisans shop if you like.
Then Uxmal where you will spend about an hour or more if you are loving it.
Finally, returning to Merida we make a stop at a cenote for a refreshing dip and then it's back home to your hotel or rental in Merida.

A perfect day! Ralf provides lots of options so that you can adjust the trip along the way to see what you want and spend the amount of time you want at each location. He is knowledgeable and personable and is clearly well-liked by all of the locals we encountered along the way. The driver, José, was an added bonus - helpful, informative, and funny. It was a great way to be introduced to the Yucatan, and it helped to clarify what we wanted to do for the remainder of our visit.
