Visit one of the biggest monolith in the world!
One of Mexico's most visited Magical Villages, in Bernal we'll walk around one of the largest monoliths in the world, learn about the tribes that lived there, and explore the beautiful downtown area where we'll visit a museum of Mexican folk masks and enjoy a traditional Mexican lunch with a fabulous view.
Peña de Bernal (Bernal's Boulder) is one of the tallest monoliths in the world located in a small town in the state of Querétaro. The huge monolith was formed around 9 million years ago and was more recently a hunting spot for the nomad tribes of central Mexico before the Spanish conquest. Our tour starts with a drive up to the skirts of the monolith on a little tractor train, there we will take a tour of the lower part of the rock formation and see some of the ancient caves in which the indigenous Chichimeca tribes lived. Finally, we'll have a delicious Mexican lunch at a colorful local restaurant with a great view of the monolith. After lunch, we'll have some time to walk the lively streets filled with local crafts, wine, and other artisanal Mexican delicacies.
