Discover Munich's old city, and experience the journey from Village to Metropolis
We will begin at the original city center, near where the first city walls of Munich stood, and we learn about how Munich transformed from a village to the Home of the Kings!
We will see the original Munich church, with its spectacular interior. Visit the old marketplace, and learn about the history of beer brewing as well as Beer gardens. See where the city expanded in the 14th century, and the east city gate. We learn how the "Age of Kings" in Bavaria came about. We also will visit places that have been built for the Royal Family, and used by Kings, but were taken over by the Nazi party and used for darker reasons.
Then we travel as the locals do, using the city underground, and see the famous "Königsplatz" - The Kings Square. The area also known as "Kunstareal", where the Pinakothek museums are, among many other gems.
We will have many chances to get some fantastic pictures of this fabulous city, and I can accommodate any special wishes you may have.
Let me show you my Historical Home Town!
We will meet at the original City Center, Marienplatz, and get into learning about Munich, and its journey from Village to Metropolis. We will see the oldest church in Munich, and the largest (and oldest) open market in the city. We will also see and discover such things as the original city gates, dating back to the 1300's, The largest city palace in Germany, site and history of Hitler's first attempt to take power in Munich, The King's Square and its history, among other things. We can stop for a snack on the way, in a beer garden (weather permitting) or a visit in one of Munich's oldest, and it's most famous, beer hall, the Hofbräuhaus. We can also choose to have coffee and cake at one of the many wonderful bakery and coffee shops in Munich.
Please note that certain places may be seasonal, such as beer gardens, and the Marketplace is not open on Sundays and public holidays. I would be happy to plan our destinations around your personal interests.

Jay was an amazing tour guide. He took our small family of four on a private adventure. The trip was tailored to our needs. He took the time to get to know us and wanted to make certain that he was providing us with a customized historical walking trip of Munich. We would have never have known which important sights were best to see and we would not have learned about all of the history of this beautiful town if we were to have done this trip on our own. I would highly recommend Jay and his tour.
