A trip through Britain's maritime history.
Three amazing ships and a journey through five centuries of Britain's domination of the oceans. Starting in the reign of Henry VIII through to the 19th century when the Royal Navy ruled the waves. The question we will try to answer is: How did a small, slightly damp, island off the north west coast of Europe come to be the richest and most powerful nation on earth?
We depart from your London Hotel and head south and west to Portsmouth. We spend the day in the Dockyards where we will see three magnificent exhibitions: HMS Victory, Nelson's flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar, HMS Warrior, Britain's first ironclad battleship built in response to French ship Gloire and, finally, Henry VIII's flagship Mary Rose.
At the end of the day I will return you to your hotel.
