I have travelled to as many as 70 countries, mostly in the old world and South America. I conducted tours to destinations like India, China, South Africa, Chile, etc.
I am a reader in the ancient and colonial history of the globe as well as anthropology and philosophy. I find myself lucky, since having been born and raised in one of the ancientmost countries of the world (Turkey), I now live in a beautiful city one of the epicentres of new industrial revolution (information age).
As a child, I was a physician's son in a village around which there was still a nomadic lifestyle that was yielding to peasantry rapidly. Later in the Metropoles of Turkey and Europe, I witnessed how peasant lifestyle was being overtaken by urban life. As a middle-aged person now I am observing what I call "near atomized individual" in one of the major post-industrial magnets of the planet. Therefore I have been gazing various "human landscapes" or snapshots from different cross-sections of the greater social transformation of mankind.
Vancouver is a city that was arguably one of the remotest cites on earth until the railway arrived in 1887. It is now a major city in the sparsely populated naturally unspoiled yet affluent British Columbia.
Curiously environmental movements of the world begun here. It is another point at which I find myself very lucky: being a student and a guide to this wonderful city!
