I have been a ToursByLocals Guide for more than four years and have given over two hundred tours.
My hard-won Blue Badge qualification (we train for nearly 2 years!) licenses me to take clients on private tours inside Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London, St Paul's Cathedral and at Windsor Castle. In addition our training course includes detailed study and examination at sites such as Royal Greenwich, the British Museum and the National Gallery, walks around the City of London, and panoramic tours across central London by car/coach.
My private guided tours outside London include day trips to Windsor Castle, Canterbury, Dover Castle, Hampton Court Palace, Oxford and Cambridge Universities, Blenheim Palace, the Cotswolds and Stonehenge.
I also specialise in private day tours out of London to gardens, castles and stately homes - particularly in Kent where I live - including Anne Boleyn's Hever Castle, Winston Churchill's Chartwell, Leeds Castle, Great Dixter Sissinghurst and RHS Wisley gardens, as well as 'off the beaten track' tours of less well-known gardens and manor houses and the beautiful and historic villages and countryside of South East England.
I only work with small private groups, including lots of families (my youngest client so far is 2 1/2 years old, my oldest 95!), so all my tours can be customised to suit you as part of your pre-trip planning. I won't just take you to the headline highlights but will also show you how to get around and give you ideas for exploring further in your own time.
Apart from walking - which is the best way to see many parts of London - we can take buses, the Underground 'Tube', river boats and black taxi cabs. For those with less energy or mobility there is a chauffeured private car tour option. For days out of London travel options include private chauffeured car or train.
I am a fully-insured member of the UK's Institute of Tourist Guiding, the British Guild of Tourist Guides and the South East England Tourist Guides Association. I am a graduate in History and Art History from the University of Cambridge, and have 2 'kids' in their twenties and a couple of dogs.
A Recent Review of this guide
We covered as much of London as humanly possible in one day, including an unplanned side trip to the Temple Bar and Church. Amanda was knowledgeable and a delight to travel with. We heartily recommend her to future travelers.

I am not a driver guide but work with excellent chauffeurs if you would like me to arrange a car for you. I am also more than happy to walk, take buses, the Tube, steam trains, riverboats and paddle steamers as appropriate!
