Chauffeured Private Tour with a Blue Badge Guide for couples, families, and small groups

Our driver and I will collect you from your London hotel to drive out of London to visit some idyllic castles and gardens in the beautiful countryside of South East England where I live and have a South East Blue Badge qualification to guide.

Hever Castle is the romantic moated childhood home of Anne Boleyn, full of fabulous rooms and Tudor treasures, surrounded by Lord Astor's man-made lake, Italian and rose gardens and mazes. Chartwell was the country home of Winston Churchill, where we will see the rooms where he lived, wrote and painted, his beloved far-reaching views and glorious gardens including the walled kitchen garden and Clementine's Rose Garden. We can lunch in the picturesque Tudor village of Chiddingstone with timbered cottages and 15th century pub as seen in 'Room with a View'.

These wonderful castles, houses and gardens are close enough to be sampled in a single day, driving along pretty country lanes with time for a pub lunch along the way.

Itinerary

The drive from central London to Kent is approximately 90 minutes including lovely scenery.

We will visit Penshurst Place, considered as the best surviving example of a defended Manor House in England with its magnificent timbered Baron's Hall built in 1341 (where Henry VIII held court) and historic Elizabethan garden.

Hever Castle's glorious gardens, created by William Waldorf Astor and the interior of this picturesque moated castle seeing the rooms and artefacts connected with Queen Anne Boleyn and the Astor family.

Just a few miles away we will walk round the gardens and fascinating favourite home of Sir Winston Churchill at Chartwell.

We will stop for coffee, lunch and tea (and local beer!) as you wish during the day with plenty of choice at all the sites and in the ancient timbered pubs in villages we drive through.

NB Out of peak season opening times of sites can vary with occasional closures that can be confirmed at time of booking
