Discover why Charleston is known as one of America's most haunted cities.
"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy. " Hamlet, 1. 5
On this 90-minute, walking tour, I share the stories that have made Charleston known as one of America's most haunted cities. From the slave, who saved St. Philips Church from burning and the "Whistling Doctor" to Edgar Allen Poe's Annabelle Lee and a headless soldier, Charleston's ghost tales will, in turn, scare you, touch you, and even make you laugh. Above all, they will entertain you.
This is not a "ghost-hunting" experience. It is an historically based tour. While some of our past guests have encountered some unusual things and taken some unexplainable photos, I cannot, of course, guarantee that you will have a paranormal experience. What I can guarantee is a tour filled with entertaining stories about Charleston's past (and perhaps still present) residents.
Appearances on Travel Channel, PBS, National Public Radio, A&E, Syfy, and Lifetime. 5 stars on TripAdvisor, Yelp, Google, and Facebook.
The tour takes place within Charleston's historic district. I do go rain or shine. However, if there is hazardous weather that forces the cancellation of the tour, I will do my best to reschedule it based on your plans. If we cannot reschedule, we will ask Tours by Locals to refund your purchase.

Best historic "dark side" walking tour! Eric's exceptional wealth of knowledge of the history of the families and homes of Charleston was incredible. My 15 year old son and his friend were enthralled with his stories. The evening weather was perfect - a little cool and a little dark in alleys, which added to the aura of a night walk around the City listening to Eric's suspenseful stories of the hauntings and gruesome happenings of Charleston.
