It was important to create a good defense against possible Muslim attacks, and on the other hand, city walls were a social instrument for setting up the limits of the city and its residents from the outskirts and countryside. In Avila one of the best preserved medieval city walls can be admired. If not afraid of big steps and heighths, we can walk along the battlement and enjoy the great views from there.
