It is a world city and a small place together. It is a metropolis but it doesn't have a million people. Everything is within bicycle distance. Water is everywhere. It is a city to discover by foot or by boat. Its history has everything to do with the sea and its nautical past is amazing. That's what fascinates me about Amsterdam.
I finished my studies as Master of Architecture at Delft University of Technology in 1995 and started to work in the Netherlands as a building manager.
After 10 years working in the Netherlands, I chose to follow my heart and started to work as a tour leader with Dutch tour groups in Asia and Central America. In 2015 I returned home and started to work as a local guide in Amsterdam and the Netherlands, next to my work as a tour leader.
Because of my background in Architecture and my love for Amsterdam I like to show my city through the eyes of an architect. I love to tell you the real story.
A Recent Review of this guide
Wilfred did a great job. We wanted a tour of the tulip harvest and of the countryside in the area where my ancestors were from. Though the harvest was at the very end of the season he managed to find some fields where active work was occurring. We then drove through miles of beautiful farmland. He was knowledgeable about the water drainage system and the few operating windmill pump stations. We traveled through he orchards and a couple of small very old towns. He gave us a very interesting tour!
