Stirling with your own local guide from Glasgow. Private only tour.
A wonderful adventure and good all round day trip to Stirling castle. Find out why it was known as the 'Key to the Kingdom' during the Medieval Centuries. A fierce battleground for Scottish Independence and wars with the 'auld enemy ' the English. Heroes Sir William Wallace (Braveheart) and the King of Scots, Robert Bruce, both men lead the Scots army to remarkable victories here against the odds.
The Castle later became the main Royal Palace for the Royal Stuart dynasty and for our most famous lady and written about monarch, Mary Queen of Scots. Then drive by a nice scenic country side and to a panoramic viewpoint of the Highland fault line above the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. The next stop is a real favorite indeed, the Glengoyne Highland Scotch Single Malt Whisky distillery, Slainte Mhor.
We drive for an hour to the historic old town of Stirling and see the medieval walls. There are 3 important visitor attractions nearby to choose from. By far the most popular being the Castle which dominates the surrounding landscape. Also the William Wallace (Braveheart) tower monument which has inside a spiral stone stairway 246 steps to the top and gives the highest man-made elevation for viewing Stirling shire. There, is also a visitor centre close to the battle of Bannockburn when in AD1314 the warrior King of Scots, Robert Bruce defeated a more powerful English army commanded by their King Edward.
Afternoon, we take the low road to the 'Bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond'. The largest freshwater Loch (Lake) in the UK. No monster here but is much more pretty than Loch Ness and witness a stunning view of the Highland fault line. Then, you can have a tasty lunch at Balmaha. Next go to a charming 'wee' whisky distillery as any in all Scotland, at Glengoyne and taste the finest drams. Slainte Mhor.

Frank was accommodating, personable, and flexible. Prior to our tour he quickly answered my emails and helped personalize our tour. He arranged a van for our tour which was perfect for touring and he drove us safely to our destinations. Jim's friendly manor and humor made this tour a delightful experience that we won't soon forget! All our family enjoyed our day with Frank and that includes the 3 generations that were on our tour (20 year olds, 50 year olds and 80 year olds).
