The tour is flexible and all periods of ARCHITECTURE can be covered. The emphasis will be on visiting 4-5 selected churches and discovering the architecture of the 1900s including Art Nouveau, Cubism leading to the modern period. We will see Gothic and Baroque churches and end the tour at the crypt and church of St. Cyril & Methodius which commemorates the tragic and heroic events that took place after the assassination of Heydrich in 1942. After a look at the exhibits we end at the Dancing House on the river and you can take lunch or a drink on a special wooden boat with a great view!
This tour can also be adapted to suit your particular interests.
National Memorial to the Heroes of the Heydrich Terror at the church crypt - Operation Anthropoid:
In May 1942, two Czechoslovak paratroopers sent by the government in exile in London assassinated Reinhard Heydrich, the Bohemian puppet state's Nazi overseer. The paratroopers were flooded out of the crypt and killed themselves before the Nazis got them.
This depends on the interest and wishes of the visitor. We usually include a minimum of 3-4 churches with some unusual ones. Also the religious wars and Huss will be discussed. En route we pass many beautiful examples of Neo-Renaissance, Neo-Classical , Art Nouveau, Cubist and Modern Architecture. We include the special memorial crypt and church where the paratroopers died after it was stormed by the Nazis - Operation Anthropoid. We usually end at the Dancing House by the river with an option for you to take a meal or a drink on the boat with a great view!
I am flexible and all will depend on time, your interests and energy levels!
Please note the museum is closed on MONDAYS!
