Itinerary

. Starting at 10am (this time is flexible ) from anywhere within Port Elizabeth, we will depart for Gqebera Township. This is one of the oldest townships in Port Elizabeth built on what was once a farm called Welbedacht owned by Pier Retief. We will be met by a local guide who will share about the history of the township. One of the highlights about the township is the successful resistance against forced removals under apartheid. We will take you to a number of community development projects. We will depart from Gqebera at 11h30 going to New Brighton with a stop over at Target Kloof to trace the origins of townships. We should arrive in New Brighton by 12pm. We will visit Red Location, one of the oldest townships in the country. We will talk about the history of the area and the rise of resistance against apartheid. We will also visit either a jazz artist, a crafter or sport personality who has achieved success despite the circumstances in which they grew. We will conclude the tour with a break for lunch
