City Tour with a private guide
A guided tour of Port Elizabeth's rich cultural history from Khoisan, Portuguese navigators, Dutch, French and British Settlers and the Nguni tribe who migrated from the north coming together as the "Rainbow Nation" in the Eastern Region of South Africa.
Port Elizabeth, popular for stunning beaches has plenty more to offer than long, lazy days spent on pristine white sands. Knowledge & passion that I have for my beautiful city as well as interest in historical homes, buildings of the Eastern Cape, makes this tour a must. Start at South End Museum, learn about forced removals then to City Centre and various buildings of interest in the oldest part of town. History extends back to before the arrival of the 1820 British Settlers right up to present day. Visit Donkin Reserve, discuss enlightening information on different art forms and sculptures. Views are simply breath-taking. Fort Frederick-the rich history of this establishment is nothing less than astounding. Visit No. 7 Castle Hill Museum one of the very 1st houses in the city. Drive along Bird Street to St George's Park where rich ship merchants built their homes. Learn the history of the area and visit the Horse Memorial, built in honor of horses that died during the battles in South Africa.
