Be surrounded by the blue!
Vital core of the village, the old town is one of the loveliest spots in Polignano a Mare. The oldest part of the town stands on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Adriatic Sea. Of natural interest are its marine caves and historically important are the historic center and the remains of Roman rule. Since 2008, Polignano a Mare has always received the Blue Flag.
The village has an ancient history.
Have you ever heard about one of the famous italian singers, Domenico Modugno, better known as "Mr. Volare"? Well, Polignano a Mare is his place of birth and maybe, with a sightseeing tour in this amazing panoramic view, you can understand why he sang "nel blu, dipinto di blu". We will see together the statue dedicated to him, the beautiful "borgo" with narrows streets, the church of Santa Maria Assunta and Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, the Purgatorio Church, and "Lama Monachile".
In the summertime or in case of nice weather, I suggest you to book a boat trip in the caves of Polignano.
