Walking tour to discover the past
A more detailed tour to discover the most amazing sights in Pest including the Synagogue, the old Jewish quarter and the last remaining part of the ghetto wall. We continue to the impressive St. Stephen's Basilica which is the second tallest church in Hungary and the memorial place called "The shoes on the Danube Bank" by the Parliament. Take the Millenium Underground to Heroes' Square, visit the City Park, the romantic Vajdahunyad Castle and have a peek inside the hall of Széchenyi Bath. During the tour I'll show you old photos of the city as we walk along so you can see how beautiful this city is and used to be. There are two options to choose from during this tour: take part in a guided tour inside the Synagogue or visit the House of Terror Museum which is a must if you're interested in the communist and nazi regime.
We start at the Synagogue, where I'll tell you the story of the ghetto and show you the last remaining part of the ghetto wall. Then we'll visit St. Stephen Basilica and enjoy the wonderful view from the panorama terrace, then the Opera House (only from outside). Take the Millenium Underground, - which is the second oldest underground railway in the world and the first on the European mainland and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Take the underground again and go to Heroes' Square. Have a pleasant walk in the City Park - where, amongst others the famous Szechenyi Spa is located and walk around Vajdahunyad Castle which is said to be modeled from a castle of the same name in Transylvania, Romania.
