A Cultural Tour of the Bay of Kotor:Our Lady of the Rock, Roman mosaics and the Cathedral of St Tryphon in Kotor
We will have a very nice and relaxing day in the splendid, UNESCO protected bay of Kotor. After a short drive to Perast, we will use a small boat to get to the small island of Our Lady of the Rock. This little manmade island is an absolute gem and also one of the most interesting temples dedicated to the Madonna in the world. Then of we go to visit the Roman mosaics in the nearby town of Risan, once a thriving kingdom of an Illyrian queen and a place where kings minted their own money. Then we will visit the splendid historic center of Kotor and its magnificent cathedral, dedicated to the saint protector of the area.
We will establish the start time depending on the time of arrival of your ship, meaning that we are pretty flexible. First of all, we are going to have a short car ride to Perast, part of the municipality of Kotor. It is called by many "the pearl of the baroque of the Adriatic" and rightfully so, as all its architecture dates back to the golden period of the history of Boka Bay, the times of the protectorate of the Venetian Republic. We will take a short boat ride to cross over to the charming island of Our Lady of the Rock, one of the most interesting shrines you could ever see. After the visit, we will continue by car to the neighboring town of Risan, which is only a few minutes drive away. We will visit the Roman Mosaics, a testimonial to the glorious past of this place. We will be getting back via the same road we took before to Kotor. The tour of this amazing town, along with the visit to the Cathedral will take us approximately an hour and a half, after which we will be saying our goodbyes.
