Arizona Memorial, Aloha Stadium Swap Meet - Optional
Travel from your cruise ship or hotel to Pearl Harbor Museum and Memorial for an unforgettable experience. Learn about the attack on December 7, 1941, which President Franklin Roosevelt described as "a date which will live in infamy. "
A variety of films and outdoor exhibits, along with optional tours of the USS Bowfin Submarine and museum, provide a glimpse of pre-war Honolulu and a moving testimonial to the ingenuity and bravery of our armed forces.
If time permits, and depending on the day of week you choose, we can detour to the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet, where you'll find souvenirs, local wares and food.
During the 20 minute drive to Pearl Harbor, I answer any questions you have about the history of the islands and talk about points of interest along the way. Upon arrival at the Visitors Center, you may carry in a bottle of water, phone and/or camera, hat, stroller. All bags and purses must be left in the vehicle or checked at Bag Check.
I direct you to various exhibits about the lead-up to war with Japan and the attack itself. Before boarding a boat out to the USS Arizona Memorial you'll watch a 25-minute film. When you exit the theatre, look for me on the boat, where I will have saved you seats. I will lead you directly to the Memorial wall upon disembarking.
You may also wish to explore the USS Bowfin submarine located at the Visitors Center (admission extra).
For those wishing to pick up a few souvenirs, sample shave ice or drink coconut water direct from the source, we detour to Aloha Stadium's Swap Meet - open Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday.
Return to cruise ship, airport or hotel.
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: I will pick you up at your cruise ship or lodging in Waikiki or Kailua. If you are staying outside those areas, please contact me to discuss alternative pick-up locations.
End location: I will drop you off at your cruise ship or lodging in the Honolulu area, Kailua or Honolulu airport. For alternative drop-off locations, please contact me. Additional charge applies to pick-ups/drop offs outside Waikiki and downtown Honolulu.
Duration: 4 hours
Admission to the USS Arizona Memorial is first-come, first-served. However, I can arrange for reserved tickets with a little advanced planning. Without reserved tickets, the wait time may be too long to take the shuttle boat to the Memorial. If that happens, you can still see the USS Bowfin Submarine, outdoor exhibits, movie about the bombing of Pearl Harbor and tour the sub and the museum.
Transportation via air-conditioned Toyota Sienna minivan. Larger groups up to 10 people can be accommodated with advance notice and additional cost.
Estimated Local Cash Needed
20 USD - Admission to USS Bowfin Submarine $12; Storage locker for or purse or backpack $5.
