A look at the classic Hong Kong sights from a non-touristy perspective with a private tour guide
A introduction to the real Hong Kong for one or two people with a private guide - I like to give you the perfect slice of Hong Kong and what it has to offer from a non-touristy perspective. If it's your first time in Hong Kong you'll soon be up to speed on the current political situation, the history of the island, how to get around using public transport, eat the like a local, and navigate through a city of 7. 24 million with zero personal space available. We'll visit the some of the major attraction sites and explore some of the most local neighborhoods, revealing their hidden gems and making sure you get the most out of this great city. If you want to explore the Peak on your own, we can delve into more of the side streets to uncover what makes this city tick instead. This is the 4 hour option, I also have 6 hour and 8 hour options available.
Sample Itinerary (we can manipulate the tour to suit your needs):
Meet at your hotel and head to Victoria Peak to get the best view of the skyscraper city and Victoria Harbour and return via the Peak Tram (optional).
Visit the open air meat and fish markets and take the opportunity to try the delicious local street snacks such as pineapple buns, milk tea and some other interesting items (not gross I promise!)
Visit a temple of cultural significance and learn how to shape your own destiny.
View the famous buildings of the Hong Kong Skyline for an up close account of their history, Fung shui and local nicknames.
For 6 hour tours - additional time available for a local dim sum lunch, the Star Ferry and Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade.
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: Your hotel or mutually agreed location
End location: Your hotel or mutually agreed location
Duration: 4 hours
We will be taking public transport (MTR, tram and Star Ferry) on the tour and I would therefore suggest that you purchase Octopus cards for your stay in Hong Kong. They cost $150 HKD each ($50 deposit, $100 credit) but as they are the easiest way to get around, I think they are invaluable. They are available from any MTR station and I can help you with this should you need. You can also use them in most shops and outlets as a form of payment as well.
English tour guide with knowledge of the local language
A vibrant look at everyday life with a chance to try local street food and shopping opportunities
Hong Kong's ancient and more modern places of worship
Estimated Local Cash Needed
500 HKD - There are no entry fees but if the markets are on the agenda, then a little more cash is advisable.

We were delighted with Amy who is extraordinarily knowledgeable. Our questions turned into conversations about the history, culture, religion and life of Hong Kong. Amy had wonderful ideas and we experienced many aspects of Hong Kong. Even though Amy clearly had a plan, she was very flexible and adapted easily to our interests and preferred pace. There was no canned pitch yet every minute seemed to be packed with information and new experiences. And, above all it was fun spending time with Amy!
