When I was 17 I started to work during the summer holidays from school, visiting the Penguin Reserve and Fuerte Bulnes with small groups of tourists from all over the world since it was a big change for a quite curious little lady to know about other cultures through visitors from other places.
Then I moved to Mamaroneck, NY in a way to improve my English traveling to every single corner in that area and California in order to understand what tourists expected from different tours arranged and bring the best of that experience to Patagonia.
I started being a local guide in this area since 1987 being part of every single course and training in order to improve my service as a local guide.
Penguins and other birds really fill my soul and that is something I like to share with others. I always want to make sure that my clients not only learn about the culture of my country, but also understand the real meaning of what the locals feel of the scent of being a 'Patagonian' for one day. That they will learn to respect nature and not to expect things to be like they are at home since we are a different culture.
I am one of those persons who is always concern of every single detail and that's one of the reasons why people remember me for.
Chile is a country of contrasts, there is a lot to be seen and even more in this Región of Chile. Half a day tours around Punta Arenas such as the Penguin Colony to Otway, Magdalena, Fuerte Bulnes, Trekking or hiking in a Natural Reserve with the splendours of the Magallanes Reserve. Rio Verde known since the voyage of the Beagle led by the Captain Fitz Roy with a young Charles Darwin Naturalist on Board, Torres del Paine. The remains of and ancient animal knows as a Milodon or Giant Ground Sloth. Full day tours to visit Glaciers and two National Parks. . . . and even more and more. . .
A Recent Review of this guide
Maritza was a great tour guide. As I was preparing to book this excursion, she was willing to answer all my questions in a quick and timely manner. Once she picked us up, she gave us a great tour of the Punta Arenas and told us lots about the city. She explained everything about the day and so we were well prepared. We wanted to purchase some very specific items and Maritza helped us to find them.
