Learn about the Romans, Royalty and Revolutionaries that settled or were imprisoned on this island
Join me on this tour of the city island, where it is rumored that the city of Paris was born. During this tour you will get to visit the 3 most important Gothic monuments of Paris: the Conciergerie, a glorious Gothic palace, the Sainte Chapelle with its stunning stained glass windows and Notre Dame with its magnificent medieval rose windows.
During the tour, we will talk about how the Romans came and conquered these lands and lived in 'Pax Romana' with the Gauls. We will visit the Conciergerie that was transformed from a Royal residence to the Palace of Justice and was converted into prison cells. It became the revolutionary prison where Marie Antoinette spent her last days on earth. We will then visit the stunning Sainte Chapelle which was built to house the crown of thorns & other relics acquired by King Louis IX. We'll end the tour with a visit to the cathedral 'Notre Dame' where we can learn about how the church was saved thanks to a novel you may have heard of 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame'.
