Half day walking tour including a visit to the Norman Cathedral and Prisons of the Spanish Holy Inquisition
I will take you through the history of the Sicilian/Spanish Holy Inquisition. Starting from the beautiful Norman Cathedral of Palermo we'll walk along the narrow streets of the Corporations of artisans where the Judges followed the men and women condemned to death by the Holy Inquisition Court in a procession. Following the route of this macabre parade we'll go through "Cassaro", the oldest street of Palermo and we'll reach the old port district of La Cala, discovering the medieval quarters, Spanish facades and courtyards of the historic mansions. We will visit Palazzo Steri, seat of the Spanish Inquisition, and its prisons. The Tour ends in Piazza Marina, in the shade of the huge Ficus magnoloides then, if you want, you can try the Sicilian pastry, cannoli, granita and brioche with ice-cream. We can also end with a wine tasting in an elegant Bistrot. Please note the Dress Code recommended to enter any church. This Tour can be customized to meet your needs. Valentina was a great guide and gave us a lot of local knowledge about Palermo. The information on the Inquisition history was great. Thank you Valentina fir the tour, just a pity that the weather was so hot.
