Erice, Segesta & Trapani Salt Flats • with Local Guide Mimmo • for up to 6 people
Experience several panoramic sceneries which are quite unique combined with a visit of an archeological area and a medieval town.
Segesta, according to the traditional legend, had a Trojan origin. The well preserved temple and the greek theater were built in the late 5th century BC. - The high-stepped, semicircular theatre opens onto a breathtaking panorama over the surrounding countryside with the sea in the distance.
Erice, just about 2400 feet above sea level, cool even in a hot Sicilian summer, offers on clear days magnificent views. According to Thucydides, it was a city like no other; a sacred place dedicated to the goddess of love and fecundity.
Nearby Trapani, the Salt Flats with its characteristic old windmills are inside a beautiful area protected by the WWF.
For up to 6 travelers
Drive (1h) along the beautiful north west coast passing the Gulf of Castellammare and the wine producing area of "Bianco d'Alcamo", a well known white wine.
In SEGESTA visit the archeological area (Greek Theater and Temple), which is embedded within a wonderful countryside.
Continue to ERICE, a stroll trough the cobblestoned streets of the medieval town will take us to the public garden located nearby the ruins of the Norman castle. The sight from here is stunning. It is not just the views, however that brings people here since the quaint cobblestone streets have their own unique appeal.
Finally stop at the SALT PANS (NOT if Shore Excursion) where sea water has been channeled into small ponds to evaporate leaving the salt behind.
Drive back to Palermo (1. 5h).
