Doubly holy, the city of Ouazzane is, thanks to the legacy of the great master of Sufism, whose tombs have become high places of pilgrimage.
-Moulay Abdellah Cherif (1596-1678), who created in 1649 a zaouia (religious and scholarly building), became during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, an important political and spiritual center.
-Rabbi Amrane Ben Diwane, Rabbi Maker of Miracles.
The few doors associated with the exterior walls of old houses (Bab Fatha, Bab Jmouaa . . . ) allowed, of course, to close the Medina in the manner of an enclosure, but did not present a really definitive fortification system; these open on covered passages which are capped by several arches sometimes forming narrow and low ways, vaulted and bent . . .
A stop is needed at the Istiqlal square where a clock built in 1929 is reminiscent of the French colonial period and acts as a sentry of the city. A visit to the district Dar Sqaf, the oldest in the Medina and home to the famous mosque of the same name, famous for its octagonal minaret is needed. The district of Mellah, meanwhile, housed the Jewish community.
The history of the city deals also with the life of Emily Keene, who became thanks its marriage with the founder of the city Moulay Abdellah Cherif "the Sainte de Ouazzane"
