Experience some of Oslo's hidden Gems/ Akerselva River/Telthusbakken/Damstredet
The tour will start in the City Centre, we walk down Karl Johan street viewing the highlights.
By Public transport we travel to the historical river area Akerselva a "green lung" in the city.
The entire river is 8 km, with stunning waterfalls and beautiful recreation areas. This river used to be the most important part of Oslo from the start of the industrial age, with all kinds of industry popping up along the river. Today Oslo is proud of its river, with picturesque walking trails, beautiful trees and charming brick factory buildings.
We continue our walk to Damstredet and Telthusbakken. Short sloping streets with pretty, photogenic little wooden houses in the middle of downtown Oslo. The houses are appr. 200 years old, and are protected as heritage landmarks. There are few tourists here.
We stop for a break at Mathallen, indoor food market were they offer products from Norway. Then we continue along the river down to the Opera House and City Centre.
Walking along Karl Johan main street with the following highlights:
Royal Palace, National Theatre, University of Oslo, City Hall, Parliament building, Oslo Cathedral. Not all sights are open to the Public, we will view them from the outside.
Public transport to Akerselva waterfall "Mølla" and Hønse-Lovisa's house, today a little coffeshop offering norwegian waffels.
Walking along the riverside to Teltusbakken/Damstredet a quaint street with old pretty wooden houses. Telthusbakken is a protected area. This means facades and environment are to stay intact, but the houses can be modernized on the inside. The street is today one of the most idyllic and picturesque streets in Oslo. The architecture's really different from the rest of Oslo.
Next stop "Mathallen", a food market where you can find specialty shops, cafe's and great places to eat, high quality food and drink, something unique.
Time for lunch/coffe break if desired.
We continue our walk along the river to its end, the Operahouse.

Good walking tour of Oslo. Terrible weather (rain and wind) that day but Agnes was a good sport and great guide. We visited one of the oldest neighborhoods in Oslo, with very cute wooden cottages up a small hill, with small gardens filled with beautiful flowers. At one point we got to stop at a very nice indoor food market with excellent fish and seafood, meats, coffees and teas and various other treats. The opera house was beautiful inside and out and we visited the City Hall building where the Nobel
