Lots to enjoy

Bygdøy is a peninsula located on the west side of the city centre. Here you find 6 of Oslo's most visited museums. It is also a popular recreational area offering beaches, a beach volley ball court, several jogging and biking trails and beach restaurants. The area is a popular residential area as well.

We will visit the Polar ship museum Fram. The museum showcases the exciting history about the polar explorers Fridtjof Nansen, Roald Amundsen and the British polar explorer Scott.

From there we will walk to the Viking ship museum which exhibits the 3 viking ships Oseberg, Gokstad and Tune.

Then we will make a short walk to the open air Norwegian Folk Museum, which exhibits 150 buildings from all parts of Norway, showing the traditional way of life. There is also a stave church which is dated from 1200.

If you would rather like to see other museums like The Maritime Museum, KonTiki; Thor Heyerdahls museum, this can easily be arranged.

We might go back to the city centre by bus or boat.

A Recent Review of this tour

Really enjoyed our tour with Elizabeth. She incorporated many interesting events in our tour and she was very thorough in ensuring we saw the most interesting sites. Her descriptions were great and she asked the staff for special events including a beautiful Norwegian song. Highly recommend her tour
