Munch's art and life
Edward Munch is a central figure in Norwegian and European art. He was a forerunner of the expressionist movement at the end of the 19th centrury, and has been an inspiration to painters all over the world ever since. He did not find painting mere expressions of nature fullfilling - he wanted to show human feelings like love, jealousy, melancholy, death. His pictures are deeply moving. Besides painting, Munch produced innumerable prints, often using the same motif. It is interesting to see how different techniques and colours give variations to the same theme.
His fame is reflected in the sale of his picture "The Scream" at an auction in New York in 2012, where it was sold for more than $ 100 mill.
The trips will include a visit to the National Gallery and to the Munch museum, which will give you a vivid impression of Munch's life and works.

This was an excellent tour, everything we hoped for. We saw the museums we have always wished to see with helpful commentary. Kirsti was personable and very knowledgeable about art. We enjoyed the added feature of lunch at the Grand Hotel.
