Although born in Tokyo, I grew up in Osaka and have lived here until now. After graduating from Kobe City University of Foreign Studies, I started to work as an English teacher at several public junior high schools in Osaka. During my significant years of teaching, I had various precious memories with my students and coworkers.
I have long been interested in cultural exchange and wanted to help foreign travellers to experience Japanese culture. After retiring from teaching, I attended seminars and traning sessions related to multi-cultural exchange and tour guiding. I became a licensed tour guide in English in 2008. Since then, I have offered private individual and group tours.
I would say I'm kind and active and forever curious of my surroundings.
My tour highlights:
*A tour above and beyond your guidebook.
Do you want to see welknown tourist spots as well as Kansai's best-kept secrets? I can take you to famous ancient sightseeing spots like Buddhist temples and castles, as well as modern hotspots like Umeda Sky Building and Akashi Bridge, which are usual guidebook recommendations.
If you feel like going back in time, in less than half an hour you can go to traditional old-style Japanese towns, where you can experience a walk through local shopping streets to find traditional Japanese ornaments, daily necessaries shops, confectionary shops and many others.
Let's enjoy the best of both worlds!
Come and see "truly Japanese" life with me! I'm ready to welcome you.

Setsuko was very friendly, informative and flexible. She was of great help in helping us arranging for an ad hoc rental of kimono and making sure the tour was child friendly. This is my second time using tourbylocals and I highly recommend them in getting your easy going stress free personal tour.
