I know a lot about Kyoto as I studied at Kyoto University. I was born and now I live in Osaka. I have also lived also in Tokyo and in the UK.
I have such a personality as loving to meet people from different backgrounds. In Tokyo, I lived with 50 people in a social apartment. When I studied at Oxford, I had wonderful experiences with locals. I believe locals are the best teachers to enjoy the life there!
In return, I'd like to offer a similar experience for tourists coming to Japan who are eager to have an exciting cultural exchange. I can help you enjoy Japan more.
Here, let me give you quick overviews for each cities of Kansai area.
Osaka is Japan's second biggest city after Tokyo. Among the main areas are Umeda, Shinsaibashi, Namba, Shin-sekai and Tennoji. It is a busy city of people enjoying their lives. There are iconic tourist places such as Glico Man Sign in Namba, Osaka Castle, Tsutenkaku Tower at Shin-sekai and Abeno Harukas at Tennoji. You can also enjoy delicious food at reasonable price, and discover the "hidden gems".
Kyoto - a city that Japanese people regard as most "historical" and a memorable place for me where I spent my college days. To me, the real attraction of the city is the atmosphere. Actually, there are many shrines and temples with fantastic Japanese gardens. The weather is very hot in summer and very cold in winter. Behind those characteristics and the beaten paths, there is a Kyoto-like atmosphere, which is difficult to describe.
Curious about Japanese food? Let's taste some ramen and Japanese sweets. I would like you to experience the mixture of all of these and understand the atmosphere of the "Japanese culture. "

Hisao is a very special tour guide. Smart, experienced, flexible and energetic. I can say I had one of the most fun and interesting days of my life with him as a guide in Kyoto yesterday. I had asked Hisao for a tour that would avoid tourist cliches and crowds and he really delivered. Small authentic sake houses, shrines at times less crowded, walks through authentic and diverse neighborhoods, even a small and very cool cocktail bar playing American jazz on vinyl. Hisao is great.
I have been a vacation rental host and a personal tour guide since the winter 2017.
I graduated from Kyoto University and also studied at Oxford, UK. I am going to get a license of expert of tourguiding in Japan, which is why I will be busy studying this summer. Sorry!
