Tradition and Beauty of Nature combined
Today we drive you to Batinah, one of the country's main coastal plains and fertile land. It extends from Khatma al Malaha in the north to Ras Al Hamra in the east, along the western side of the Hajjar mountains. Your excursion takes you to the forts of Nahkel, Rustaq and Al Hazm (for a simple stop-photo). Nakhel lies to the south of the plain of Batinah, ready for the Jebel Nakhel. You can explore the 350 years of this fortress built on the top of a hill of 200 m. In 1990, the Sultan Qaboos ordered its restoration. Not far from there are important hot springs; one of them suitable for swimming in a picturesque setting of oasis. 90% of the area is agricultural land. The village of Rustaq is also south of Batinah. During the reign of Imam Nasir bin Murshid al Ya'arubi, Rustaq was the capital of Oman. Visit this fortress dating from the first century AD: one of the oldest and most imposing in the country.
Starting at 8. 00am - expected to return around 4. 30pm Inclusive of entrance fees, picnic, water & soft drinks.
We leave in the morning Barka. On our way back to Muscat we will also visit the Fish Market & Souk in Barka. Our next stop will be Nakhal; first visit is a magnificent fort perched on a rocky mountain which overlooks a small town known for date plantations. Then we will proceed to a village called Thowarah & its warm spring, believed to be full of minerals & healing ingredients. We will continue our journey to Rustaq crossing Al-Batina plain; there you will visit another marvelous fort built in 1250. The fort consists of residences, weapon stores, reception rooms, gates, mosque, a prison & water wells.
