Fascinating Architecture & Tiny Cave-like Houses
One of the images that for sure you have seen in advertising campaigns since the 70's. That is the town of Oia ( pronounced Ea) that is located in the North of the island. Discovering this part of the island gives the whole picture of what Santorini is all about, since the drive to Oia shows you how radically different the west and the east sides of the island are. Arriving at Oia we walk through the coblestone narrow pathways without having to worry about traffic! It is a protected settlement and thats why no cars, motorbikes, or bikes are allowed in. The other fascinating fact about Oia is its architecture. Famous tiny cave-like houses is what this town is so popular for.
You can do this tour in the morning , but Oia is famous for its sunset, so you can experience this town in the afternon hours watching the sun setting.
Great photo opportunity also!
We walk for approx 2 hours, since thats the only way to enjoy and discover Oia.
Its a pedestrian protected settlement.
