Best Sights of Odessa
Odessa (Ukraine) is situated at a distance of 200km from Chisinau by the Black Sea so this tour takes the whole day. Founded in 1794 by Katherine the Great the city was developed and constructed by European architects. Opera House is considered the second largest and nicest after Vienna Opera House( the same architects Felner/Helmer). Potemkin Stairs (named after the rebellious battleship Potemkin), famous scenes from Sergey Eisenstein's movie were shot on those stairs. The City Hall is situated on Primorskiy Boulevard where you can also see the Monument to Duke Richelieu. The Philarmonic Hall by Alexander Bernardazzi in 1899. This fabulous city will not leave you indifferent as there is a special feel to it which you will never forget. Please, note that the shortest road to Odessa lies through the separatist region of Transnistria so there are two border crossings( Moldova-Transnistria-Ukraine) each way which might take some time. Due to the volatile situation in Ukraine this tour is currently unavailable.

While this tour is a long day, it was definitely worth it. Odessa is a beautiful city, and it was fascinating crossing through the many different border checks on the way. Valery is a great guide -- informative and flexible -- and very resourceful! He helped us negotiate all the border crossings, and, in Odessa, he took us to unique sites. We also made a special request: a detour to see a small site, and he easily accommodated us. Hopefully, he will also give you a display of his musical talents.
