Classical American sector D-Day sites
Tour available as described from hotels in Bayeux and La Chenevière (outside of Portenbessin). We will tour only the US area from behind Utah beach to the famous Omaha beach. Starting with the Sainte Mère Eglise where the 82nd Airborne fought at night before the main landing on the beaches to cover the western flank and avoid German counterattacks for the capture of the deepwater harbour in Cherbourg. Then, a description of hedgerows, so costly during the three month long battle for Normandy, and German coastal defenses. We will pause for a moment of reflection at Utah beach and its strongpoint WN5. Later, in the afternoon, we will visit Pointe du Hoc, where Rangers scaled a 100 foot cliff to attack a German garrison at this strategical German coastal gun battery. Then, it will be time to walk on and discover Omaha beach, before the highlight of the day, a visit of the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial in order to pay tribute to the tremendous sacrifice of the Nation among the allied forces.
We will see during that day many highlights, SainteMèreEglise, hedgerows, Utah Beach, Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach, and The American Cemetery. This itinerary may be flexible and be subject to change on that day.

Most excellent day with Christophe. Well worth the money and would do again tomorrow. Incredible local knowledge about area and keep us on time line to make sure we saw everything especially taps at the American cemetery. Only regret is did not have another day in Bayeux with him as a guide. We will be back.
