I have a university degree in Norman history specialized in Medival History, especially the time of William the Conqueror and the nearly 300 years of Norman History as an independant country.
I'm also well educated in modern history, especially of World Word II.
I've also a university degree in Art History and know very well the periode of the sea side resorts (1840-1914) with the Impressionist painting periode in Normandy.
Next to art and history I know very well the culinary specialties of Normandy, with it's soft cheeses and the famous Calvados (Apple Brandy).
As I live between Caen and Bayeux (two very historical Norman), I can guide you there and show you all the little secret part of those two beautiful cities.
As I'm also very frequently in Rouen, I can also show you all the beautiful parts along the Seine rive and some of the most intersting historical and cultural places.
A Recent Review of this guide
I can't praise Richard highly enough for our two-day tour of D-Day battle sites, enriching his explanations with stories providing insights into the experiences of the people caught in the conflict that aren't in guide books. With the places we wanted to see, he included places that we initially weren't interested in or knew nothing about, such as the German Cemetery or Pegasus Bridge, giving us a broad picture of what happened and the consequences. A great way to tour to D-Day beaches.
