The place is located in a coffee area and next to beautiful hills covered by virgin rainforests.
The northern province of Matagalpa has become a renowned producer of world class coffee beans. Behind a sip of gourmet coffee, lays a whole network of careful processing and rural livelihoods. The Selva Negra Coffee Estate and Ecolodge, a few minutes from the city of Matagalpa, is an organic coffee farm owned by descendant of 19th century German migrants who came to this part of Nicaragua. Visitors are offered a coffee tour, where they can see the actual work that goes into producing organically certified coffee beans. Or if you would rather hike the beautiful forest reserve in the estate, this place is definitely worth a visit. But, why not do both?
