Wine Tasting Tour

If you like wine, this is the tour for you. You will visit 4 wineries and also spend an hour in Niagara-on-the-Lake Old Town. I learnt a great deal about the wine industry while living for 20 years in Germany. Many of the German grape varieties can be found here in Niagara, e. g. Riesling & Gewurztraminer. Most of the wineries were established by European immigrants, the first one opening in 1975. Since then the industry has flourished to over 100 wineries in the Niagara Peninsula. The big attraction here is Icewine. A dessert wine made from frozen grapes. Niagara has the perfect climate for Icewine production, which is now exported worldwide. I can explain the whole Icewine making process to you. While we are in the area we will also make a mini-tour of Niagara-on-the-Lake Old Town and then I will leave you to explore the town for an hour. Before returning you to your drop-off point, we can stop and see a glass-blowing demonstration, where you can also do some shopping, if you wish.

From your pick-up point we will make our way through the beautiful Niagara Fruitbelt to the first winery. The wine tasting experience will usually take about 30 to 45 minutes and then we will continue to the next winery. After the 2nd winery I will offer you the chance to have a lunch break and take you on a mini-tour of the Niagara-on-the-Lake old town. Then it is on to the 3rd winery to try some more wines before carrying on to the 4th winery. On the way back to your drop-off point we can stop in and see a glass-blowing demonstration if you wish. There you can also do some local shopping.

Meeting Location + Tour Duration

Meeting location: Your pick-up will be at your address, or hotel in the Niagara Falls area at the pre-arranged time, 9.00 or 10.00 a.m. or 1.00 or 2.00 p.m.

End location: After completion of the tour I will drop you off at the same place I picked you up.

Duration: 4 hours

The tour could exceed the 4 hours, depending on the time spent at each winery.

The tour will be conducted using my clean, comfortable, air-conditioned, silver 2012 Kia Forte

What’s Included

All transportation costs and my guiding time are included.

Estimated Local Cash Needed

20 CAD - This would probably cover cost of lunch if required

What’s Extra

All wineries now charge for wine tasting. For domestic wines the cost is normally between $1 to $1.50 per wine. Icewine usually costs between $3 to $5 depending on the brand and the winery. Most wineries offer to deduct the icewine tasting fee from the price of the bottle if you decide to buy one. Lunch is also the responsibility of the tour guest.

Due to the possibility of heavy traffic, many tourists, entrance and permit fees, I do not offer a tour of the Niagara Parkway.

A Recent Review of this tour

Bevin was one of the most experienced guides we have ever had the pleasure to spend the day with. Our entire day was well planned, and he took us to places and showed us the most dynamic tour of our five days in Niagara Falls, ON. He gave us his agenda upfront and we were allowed to influence it if and when we wanted. I'm telling everyone, if you go to Niagara Falls use Bevin for the best local flavor, history and his recommendations. You can't go wrong.
