Visit Lady Liberty and walk in the footsteps of immigrants on Ellis Island
We'll get up close to one of the most famous modern Wonders of the World - the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island! These New York icons are treasured national monuments and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Set foot on Liberty Island and (depending on availability and weather conditions), ascend to the top of the pedestal. Expansive views of the Manhattan skyline abound from both islands.
The Statue has graced Liberty Island since 1886 (a gift from France), and we'll learn how it came to be and why it came to represent, for so many, the hopes and dreams that they had coming to America.
Later, we'll journey by boat to Ellis Island (and the National Museum of Immigration) and walk in the footsteps of the millions of immigrants, mostly from Europe, who passed through the Registry Room on their way to start their lives in the New World - for some, it was an island of hope, for others an island of tears, but for all, a unique American Journey.
Meet at our agreed upon location and transfer through Battery Park to board the ferry boat! Please note we will be passing through airport-style security before boarding the ferry.
Stop 1: Statue of Liberty on Liberty Island

On the ferry boats and islands we'll have a chance to see impressive views of the surrounding area and capture some memorable photos for the family newsletter! Weather dependent, we'll see many sights, including the Manhattan skyline, Brooklyn Bridge, and even the great state of New Jersey! Of course, we'll leave time for breaks and souvenir shopping as you wish.

If we go into the pedestal, backpacks, backpack style purses, drawstring bags, metal containers, gum/candy, food/beverages other than water will need to be checked into the lockers on Liberty Island ($2/locker - dollar bills only).

Subway is often the easiest way to get around ($1 for Metrocard + $2.75/ride, up to 4 "swipes" per card).
