I was born and raised in Alabama, and I moved to New Orleans in 2009 at the ripe age of 25. I moved to New Orleans to attend Tulane Law School. During my time at Tulane, my main focus was the law, but my interest constantly wandered to the culture, lifestyle, and entertainment that the Crescent City had to offer.
After graduating from Tulane Law, I had decided that I wouldn't practice law, and I considered becoming a local high school history teacher. Instead, I realized that I could take that passion for history and turn it into a fun and thriving business as a local guide.
I love exploring how the colonial settlers placed a city here in the middle of a swamp, how the city evolved over time, and how the geography, economy, and demographics of the region melted together in this unique gumbo pot to create the modern New Orleans. My favorite topic is architecture, and I have performed custom tours on every subject from African American influences to speakeasies of Prohibition.
I specialize in the French Quarter neighborhood, which is the original European settlement in New Orleans and the main historic district. I have also performed city-wide tours and the Garden District as well. I can do walking tours, we can rent a bicycle and see the city on two wheels, and I am happy to perform a driving tour of the city in a charter vehicle.
I try to make my tours engaging and memorable by focusing on the interesting stories and narratives that bring the information to life, as opposed to reeling off dates and facts. And I am always happy to research and plan a new route or subject matter if you want to do a customized tour.
Areas to be visited can be tailored to suit your particular interests. Tell me how you want to get around New Orleans on foot, by charter vehicle, or by bicycle. I'll come up with the itinerary to match your interests and time frame. I'm looking forward to seeing you in New Orleans!
